Seattle Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid was clearly excited by the fact he will have an opportunity to coach a team at Yankee Stadium next year.
MLS expansion franchise New York City FC announced on Monday that they will be spending their debut season in 2015 in the famed home of Major League Baseball's New York Yankees.
Upon hearing the news, Schmid suggested it was exhilarating to ponder the prospect of playing in the iconic New York venue which in the past has housed some of American sports greatest names.
"Wow, thinking of Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth and all those guys," Schmid told the Seattle Times.
"I've actually never been to Yankee Stadium, so that'll be fun. That'll be a fun experience.
"The old or new, never been to Yankee Stadium. My old assistant coach is a huge Yankees fan, so he'll probably show up for the game just for that reason.
"Obviously, again, the league knows better as to what they're trying to do."
