Scottish youth chief Wotte offers job to Man Utd's Fletcher

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has been offered a coaching job with the Scottish youth setup.

SFA performance director Mark Wotte has held talks with Fletcher over the position.

"I had a good chat with Darren yesterday," Wotte told the Scottish Sun. "I offered him a position on our coaching staff within the Scotland National Youth Teams whenever he feels he has time and wants to join any of our squads at home or abroad.

"He would be more than welcome to be a part of what we're trying to achieve. I told Darren we will send him all the itineraries of the youth teams. Of course, I realise he has a lot to consider at the moment.

"We all hope to see Darren fully recovered soon and playing again for Manchester United. He also now has coaching duties for United's reserves and I'm pleased for him.

"Darren is a class act and the perfect role model for all young players. He is a great player too for Scotland and has always been fully committed to his country.

"It is why I would be delighted to have him involved in any aspect of our set-up. Darren was fantastic yesterday with regards to our Under-17 team.

"He actually joined us at Cappielow and saw most of the game.

"Darren went into the dressing room after the game and you could see the looks on the faces of our young players. They look up to him so much."
