Scotland to take on Brazil in London friendly

Scotland and Brazil will meet in an international friendly at north London's Emirates Stadium in March. The match, to be played at Arsenal's home venue on Sunday, March 27, has been confirmed and Scotland manager Craig Levein was already excited about the prospect of facing the 'Samba Kings'.

"This game will not only capture the imagination of the Scotland support, but also the squad, who will relish the prospect of testing their skills against one of the finest international teams in world football," he said.

"I believe recent performances - and not simply the results - against the Faroe Islands and Northern Ireland have given the whole country encouragement for the second half of the Euro 2012 qualification campaign and beyond.

"The players have confidence in the way forward and, while I believe the most important aspect of the forthcoming international break is to further cultivate a "Club Scotland" culture within the squad, the opportunity to play Brazil was irresistible."

Around 30,000 of the 'Tartan Army' are set to descend on London for the encounter and Hamish Husband, spokesman for the Association of Tartan Army clubs, told SunSport it was a great thing for Scottish football.

"This game will catch the imagination of Scotland supporters all over the UK," he said.

"Going back to when we played them in 1974, the Scots have always had an affinity with Brazil.

"With the game being played in London there is certain to be a huge demand for tickets.

"There could easily be 30,000 Scots looking to get into the game, which would be fantastic.

"It's an occasion not to be missed. It's London and it's Brazil - there will be a clamour for tickets."
