Scotland manager Clarke: We won't wait 23 years again

Scotland boss Steve Clarke is adamant his side will be back at a major tournament very soon.

The Scots are out at the group stages of Euro 2020, failing to secure a place in the round of 16.

Despite getting a creditable draw against England in their previous group game, Scotland lost 3-1 to Croatia at Hampden Park on Tuesday.

Euro 2020 was the nation's first major tournament since the World Cup of 1998.

"At the moment it's just disappointment we are out," said the Scotland manager post-game.

"We wanted to stay in as long as we could. Disappointed we haven't managed to get out of the group stage.

"You have to give me tonight to get over that and then a few days we will all sit down and take stock and look at our performances.

"I will look at my performance and the performance of the players and we will look at what we can do better in the future. And we'll make sure it's not 23 years before we go to the next tournament."
