Bastian Schweinsteiger was unveiled by MLS side Chicago Fire as their marquee player on Wednesday.
The former Germany international quit Manchester United following an 18-month spell to join the MLS side on a free transfer.
The 32-year-old is looking forward to his time in the United States, but he revealed that he is regretting not saying 'a proper goodbye' to his former United teammates.
He said: "It was not so easy because the decision was a bit late so I couldn't say a proper goodbye to the team.
"Also they had a match away – I can't remember – so I couldn't really tell them because I didn't want the focus on me, but on the team.
"I had a great time there, especially with the team-mates and the staff there."
