Mark Schwarzer says Fulham will tackle this season's FA Cup with the intention of winning it.
Fulham travel to Coca-Cola Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday as the top flight clubs enter the third round.
Schwarzer feels this year's competition could prove to be one of the most open in recent memory, with the Cottagers looking to reach the final for the first time since 1975 when Bobby Moore's side lost to West Ham.
"We are taking it very seriously," Schwarzer told the club's official website, fulhamfc.com.
"The FA Cup gives you an opportunity to try and qualify for Europe and win a major trophy.
"It is the number one cup competition in the world. I have been fortunate enough to have been involved in some very good FA Cup runs, they are great fun and we need to continue our form."
Former Boro keeper Schwarzer added: "We saw the final last year being between Portsmouth and Cardiff, I don't think anyone would have put money on that being the final at the start of the season - or that two Championship sides would be in the semi-final. So it's open for everyone."
