Bernd Schuster says it's not good enough for Real Madrid to claim they need time to gel.

Speaking after Real's 3-0 Champions League win over Ajax, Schuster hit out at the excuses being made for their inconsistency this season.

"It's ridiculous people say they need time when most of the players were signed a year ago," said the ex-Real player and coach. "I want to know if they have really improved. Can they handle the big games in the Champions League and against Barcelona?

"The rest are the same, it's garbage time."
