Scholes: This Man Utd player not good enough to stay

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has declared Wout Weghorst not good enough for Old Trafford long-term.

The Dutchman joined Erik ten Hag's side on loan from Burnley during the January transfer window after cutting short a brief stint with Turkish giants Besiktas.

Weghorst has played a key role under ten Hag at Old Trafford, starting all seven Premier League games for which he has been available.

But after their 7-0 thrashing at Liverpool, Scholes told Premier League productions: “You're talking about a Manchester United No.10 or a centre-forward, he's in the team to be defensive.

“He's the one who runs about and rants about and everybody likes playing with him because he does that.

“But quality-wise as well you've got to have a certain level of quality to play for Man United… it's not there."
