Scholes: Man Utd squad needs another rebuild

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes says the squad isn't good enough and needs another massive rebuild.

United remain two points behind fourth placed Chelsea after scraping through with a 2-1 win against West Ham at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Scholes told BT Sport: “I don't think we're particularly close (to a title challenge) at the minute.

"I think you're looking at what, a third or fourth manager?

“And it feels like you almost need a full rebuild again - a lot of people are expecting United, and I think probably Ole himself, are expecting United to challenge for the league next year.

“At this minute I just can't see it.

"I know Liverpool have been challenging for the league this year but they were showing signs from the season before and the season before that.

“They were looking like a team who could challenge for the Premier League and they've proven that they will do that.

“With United there's nothing telling me, with what I'm seeing, they are going to be challenging for the league next year.

“But, give it £200million, whatever it might be, give Ole a summer transfer window - he's going to have to improve this team massively.

“Not just by new players, but with some of the players that he's got - and he's got a really big job on his hands."
