Schmeichel: Ole there to build Man Utd team - not quick-fix

Manchester United great Peter Schmeichel has again insisted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the right manager in charge.

Schmeichel, formerly of Sporting CP, was speaking at the Web Summit in Lisbon this week.

"It's something that needs to be debated. I don't want to be making headlines about Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer]. He might not be the right type, but I think he is," said the Dane.

"Antonio Conte? We've tried others like Conte. Get quick results, but he doesn't build the club and that's what Ole is doing. Sir Alex also took six years to win the Premier League."

Since leaving football, Schmeichel has devoted himself to sports commentary, but has not ruled out a possible coaching experience.

"You can never say never. There are a lot of good things in football, but also a lot of crazy things. I always wanted to come back, but then I started working in the media when I finished my career and I liked it because it allowed me to stay close to the game."
