Wigan Athletic defender Paul Scharner says he intends to leave at the end of the season.

"Summer is the right time for me to look to make the next step," he told Austria's ATV. "I am not becoming any younger, and therefore I am looking to play in Europe.

"Of course it is every player's dream to play in the Champions League and that is my ultimate goal."
