Schalke winger Rabbi Matondo is a shock target for Manchester United.

The Manchester Evening News says Matondo, who left Man City's youth team to join the German outfit in 2019, has emerged as an alternative transfer target to Jadon Sancho for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The 19-year-old, currently a full Wales international, has made 12 appearances for his new club and scored one goal.

But it is claimed United see him as a low-risk option and a much cheaper purchase than Borussia Dortmund ace Sancho.

Matondo would fit United's transfer strategy of snapping up promising British talent while also spending sensible amounts in times of financial insecurity due to the coronavirus pandemic.
