Newcastle United are wrapping up a deal for Schalke midfielder Nabil Bentaleb today.

Sky Sports says Bentaleb is on Tyneside having a medical with Newcastle, ahead of a loan move from Schalke, which is managed by former Huddersfield boss David Wagner.

Bentaleb has had an agreement with Wagner to seek a move away from S04 since before Christmas.

Newcastle hope to finalise the signing of the ex-Tottenham man later today.

Bentaleb has been with S04 for over three years.
