Schalke chief Schneider blasts Matondo for 'thoughtless actions'

Schalke sports director Jochen Schneider has slammed Rabbi Matondo for being snapped training in a Borussia Dortmund shirt this week.

Matondo has since apologised for wearing the Jadon Sancho shirt while working out in a gym. The pair are former Manchester City teammates.

But Schneider is demanding better from the Wales winger, revealing: "Over the phone, I have made it more than clear to him what I think about such thoughtless actions.

"We have made it clear to him that he will have to show the right reaction on and off the pitch on top of this bad behavior. He is only 19 years old, but this should not happen to him."

Matondo has apologised, stating: "I am very sorry and disappointed in myself to disappoint everyone involved in Schalke. I would like to clarify the situation and apologise to everyone in the club. Especially our incredible fans. Causing such pain and dissatisfaction was definitely not my intention.

"To be totally transparent, I put on the jersey out of naivety for a private training session. The shirt was my very close friend Jadon Sancho's."
