Schalke chief Jochen Schneider admits the chance of signing permanently Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo is becoming remote.

Todibo joined S04 on-loan in January and has made an immediate positive impact.

Schalke were eager to buy him outright, with a €25m option available, though the coronavirus suspension has forced a rethink to their spending plans.

"You don't have to be a prophet to say that the likelihood has decreased due to the current crisis situation," said Schneider.

Instead, a new loan arrangement is set to be discussed.

Schneider added: “It is important that FC Barcelona's plans are considered also."
