Former Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has been axed by Schalke.
The German was allowed to leave for the Bundesliga after falling out of favour under Mikel Arteta.
But he is finding his time back in his homeland tough, as well, with Schalke taking on Bayer Leverkusen.
In brutal fashion, a tweet giving fans an update on the squad revealed Mustafi had been dropped for sporting reasons, reports the Mirror.
Mustafi has made six appearances in the Bundesliga where he is yet to be on the winning side, losing four of them.
During that time, the Gelsenkirchen outfit have shipped 16 goals which also saw Christian Gross sacked.
