Savage baffled Wenger's longevity has him 'untouchable' at Arsenal

Robbie Savage is surprised that Arsene Wenger has been allowed to continue at the helm of Arsenal without any questions.

Wenger is undoubtedly one of the greatest ever managers of Arsenal but the Frenchman has struggled to deliver the desired results in recent years and he is currently being pressurised by the fans to leave at the end of the season.

Despite the poor results as well as the pressure, it looks like Wenger will be the one who will be making the decision about his future and pundit Savage cannot believe that the 67-year-old enjoys such a position of power at the Emirates Stadium.

In his Daily Mirror column, Savage wrote: "Apart from Sir Alex Ferguson's reign at Manchester United, I've never known another big club where the manager seems to be so influential.

"From the outside, Arsene Wenger appears to be the most powerful man at Arsenal – and that includes picking and choosing whether he stays or goes.

"After 21 years with the Gunners, I understand that sentiment comes into the equation. I get that.

"But I find it absolutely bizarre that Wenger's longevity in the job has almost made him untouchable while the fans are fighting among themselves and the division has become so toxic."
