Leroy Sane admits he chose Manchester City over Bayern Munich due to Joshua Kimmich.

Sane, who left Schalke 18 months ago, says Kimmich urged him to choose City because of the presence of former Bayern coach Pep Guardiola.

He told Die Welt: "He told me, 'Leroy, if Guardiola calls you and wants you, go to him'.

"Bayern always wants to have the best German talent. When Pep called me and said that he wants me in his team, I knew immediately: I want to play for him.

"He has taken my game to a new level."
