Sampdoria defender Shkodran Mustafi has been called up into the Germany World Cup squad.
Mustafi replaces the injured Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund.
"I'm really happy," he told Samp's official website. "It's amazing to be able to travel to Brazil with the boys.
"I want to say that I'm very sorry for Reus because he's had such a good season. He's a very strong player and I hope he recovers soon.
"But when Low rang me this morning to tell me I was going to Brazil it was a wonderful surprise.
"The Coach has always been clear with me. He confessed that it was hard to leave me out initially."
