Samir Nasri told to forget about long-term West Ham contract offer

Samir Nasri has been told to forget about a long-term contract offer from West Ham.

The Mirror says Nasri is likely to get a six-month deal at the most from West Ham if he proves his fitness.

Boss Manuel Pellegrini is keen on an £80,000-a-week January reunion with the France international he lifted the title with as Manchester City colleagues in 2014.

Midfielder Nasri is working hard to get into shape after raising eyebrows with his lack of condition on his arrival in east London. Insiders reckon he still needs to lose up to five kilos if he is to be ready to play by the turn of the year.

West Ham are understood to be mindful of the big money they are already spending on wages of players who have been on the sidelines for long spells.

Nasri, who left the Etihad in 2016, joined Antalyspor in Turkey, then went on to Spanish side Sevilla. He is currently banned from football after breaching World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) rules, but will be free to play again from New Year's Day.
