Despite losing Yakubu for the season, the news is not all bad at Goodison Park with Louis Saha's injury not as bad as first thought.
The Frenchman hurt his hamstring in Everton's 1-0 win over Tottenham on the weekend and was stretchered off but Toffees physio Mick Rathbone has revealed it is not too bad.
"Scans have confirmed the clinical diagnosis that Yakubu has ruptured his right Achilles tendon," Rathbone told the club's official website.
"He will undergo surgery in London tomorrow (Tuesday) and be out for the rest of the season. We expect him to be back for the start of next season.
"Louis Saha had a muscle spasm in his hamstring. It doesn't look too serious and we will be evaluating it over the next few days."
