Saha concentrating on fitness ahead of new season with Everton

Everton striker Louis Saha admits he is concentrating on stepping up his fitness ahead of the upcoming English Premier League season.

The Frenchman is currently in Australia with the rest of the Toffees squad for their Down Under pre-season tour and says it is now important to work on fitness levels so they can begin the 2010/11 season as they finshed last term.

"We just need to get in some more fitness work and everyone is concentrating on being ready for day one (against Blackburn on August 14). It is going to be a great season and hopefully we get a better start than last season," Saha told reporters in Melbourne.

"It is very important to bring the confidence, to bring the players to where we were last season. Like the manager said we finished very well so let's do the same and put some pressure on the bigger teams."

Saha enjoyed a brilliant individual season with the Toffees last term despite the fact he was in and out of the side with injury maintenance issues but says he is feeling refreshed and ready for a new campaign.

"At the moment, after a month-and-a-half holiday I'm feeling good. We get back to training and the fitness is getting better and better so hopefully we get through the games and get the confidence and everything will be fine," he added.
