Espanyol have sacked coach Pablo Machin.

Defeat to Leganes on Sunday left Espanyol bottom of the LaLiga table for the Christmas break.

A statement released this morning read: "RCD Espanyol of Barcelona reports that Pablo Machin has ceased his duties as coach of the first team. The club has made this decision as a result of the sports performance of the first team and with the clear will to redirect the current situation of the blue and white team in LaLiga.

“The rest of the members of the technical staff Jordi Guerrero, Jordi Balcells and Carles Martínez also cease their duties. The RCD Espanyol thanks Pablo Machin and his coaching staff for these months of work and wishes them all every personal and professional success."
