Russia approach former Man City boss Pellegrini

The Russian Football Union (RFS) have reportedly approached Manuel Pellegrini about the Russian national team's managerial vacancy.

Following the departure of Leonid Slutsky after his side's dismal showing at Euro2016, Russia are on the hunt for a replacement and it is understood that they want Chilean tactician Pellegrini.

AS.com is reporting that Russia have offered the 62-year-old a lucrative two-year deal to lead them into the 2016 World Cup in there home country.

Pellegrini has completed his three-year stint at the Etihad Stadium and has been linked with a number of jobs, including AC Milan and more recently Southampton, since departing Manchester.

Russia have appointed Guus Hiddink, Dick Advocate and Fabio Capello as their only foreign managers since the break-up of the Soviet Union in 1992.
