News Limited boss and TV mogul Rupert Murdoch is holding a secret summit today in Milan with Europe's biggest clubs. Spanish and Italian sources say Murdoch will chair a meeting of clubs, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Napoli to discuss a new European super league. Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal, along with Bayern Munich, are also expected to be represented.
Murdoch wants to explore buying the television rights of a mooted UEFA competition which would see the Champions League and Europa League merge. However, also on the agenda will be a breakaway super league, the 'European Championship', which is an idea put forward by Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis.
