Rothen: Chelsea defender Thiago Silva proving PSG and Leonardo wrong

Former PSG star Jerome Rothen has criticised the club for allowing Thiago Silva to leave.

Thiago Silva has just signed a new contract with Chelsea which will see him spend a third season with the Blues.

Rothen told RMC: "Two years ago, I was one of those who thought that Thiago Silva had gone around too long with PSG. He was also part of a team that suffered big blows and did not show enough character in certain hot moments compared to his status and his role as captain.

"But Thiago Silva won the Champions League with his new club Chelsea. He was therefore not at all at the end of his cycle, as Leonardo could explain to us. We know that PSG creates transfer windows of opportunities: Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos… But how do you want to understand the recruitment of Sergio Ramos? He came to create competition, but if he played, Presnel Kimpembe would be on the bench. And when you give as an excuse: now it's the place for the youngest, this is not true with the arrival of Ramos.

"So it's a big mistake made by PSG."
