Rookie Rodrigo in line for shock Bolton call-up

Bolton boss Owen Coyle could hand Benfica loanee Rodrigo a surprise start in the FA Cup semi-final clash with Stoke at Wembley. The 20 year old is on a season-long loan from the Portuguese outfit, and has already shown his scoring touch in the reserves with a brace in his last outing.

Coyle is pleased with the Spanish striker's progress and said: "It has been a source of frustration that I have not been able to get him in the team.

"We want real competition in every area in the park and we have that now."

Rodrigo arrived at the Reebok Stadium to gain experience of top-flight English football only a month after signing a five-year deal with Benfica following his move from Real Madrid.

He has made three starts in the Barclays Premier League, scoring one goal in the process.

Coyle added: "There is no doubt Rodrigo is a big talent and will have a big role to play between now and the end of season."
