The agent and brother of Barcelona star Ronaldinho has ruled out a January move to Chelsea.

Blues boss Roman Abramovich was reportedly prepared to offer £50million to land the 27-year-old, however, their efforts look to end in failure.

Chelsea had reportedly hoped a deal may be done during the January transfer window, but Ronaldinho's agent Roberto de Assis has ruled out his brother departing Barca in the New Year.

Not only is Ronaldinho happy to see out the remainder of his contract at Camp Nou, which has another two-and-a-half years to run, but he is also interested in penning an extension.

"It is completely out of the question that Ronaldinho will go in the middle of the season," Assis told the News of the World.

"There is no reason to think Ronaldinho's future is away from Barcelona.

"My brother has a contract with Barcelona until 2010 and he is interested in seeing it out and, if possible, extending it."
