Roma midfielder Mauro Esposito insists there is a determination among the players to bounce back against Manchester United.

"We knew we were facing a great team and they are proving that in every competition, but I think Roma had a good start and the chances to take the lead, but the opener really cut us down," said the former Cagliari winger.

He was a substitute in the 2-0 Champions League quarter-final loss that leaves their hopes of continuing in the competition hanging by a thread.

"At the start of the second half we poured forward and had several great scoring opportunities, but the second goal knocked the wind out of our sails.

"In the locker room we said that our team is able to surprise anyone in any arena. We have proved that many times over the years, including this season, so we believe we can do this."
