Roma winger Pedro says they proved their character for victory over Europa League opponents Ajax.

Roma won the first-leg of their quarterfinal tie 2-1 on Thursday evening.

“It was a good performance, we made a mistake in the first half and conceded that goal, but we did much better after the break," Pedro told Sky Sport Italia.

“We fought together, like a strong team, with a great mentality and at the end took this very important victory. We are playing very well in Europe and must continue with this mentality.

“The second leg is going to be another very difficult match, because Ajax are such a strong side, but we are very happy with this result.

“When we play together as a team and communicate like this, we are a great team. We need to continue like this."
