Roma step away from new deal for Man Utd defender Smalling

Roma are a step away from sealing a new deal for Manchester United defender Chris Smalling.

Corriere dello Sport says Smalling is drawing in on a move away from United.

The defender is just “one step away" from sealing a permanent move to Paulo Fonseca's side this summer.

They report Roma will take him on loan again next season, paying United £3million for that, but would then be obliged to buy him outright in the summer of 2021.

For his part, Smalling is desperate to see the deal done as he is settled in Italy.
