AS Roma rejected a summer bid from Chelsea for Daniele De Rossi it has been revealed.

The Blues have been linked with many players during the off season, particularly those from Italy's Serie A, but have been unable to lure any across to Stamford Bridge.

Roma official Bruno Conti said that Carlo Ancelotti made a bid for De Rossi but the club had to turn it down.

"I've personally had a call from Ancelotti to take the player to Chelsea. But Daniele is untouchable," Conti told Radio Radio.

"The offer was of a lot of money, but it has been refused."
