Roma owners leave door open to deal for West Ham midfielder Behrami

AS Roma haven't ended their pursuit of West Ham United midfielder Valon Behrami.

While club owners UniCredit have blocked the deal, they have informed coach Claudio Ranieri he can still sign the Swiss if he offloads several of his fringe players.

Roma and West Ham have a verbal agreement of €5 million for Behrami's transfer.

The Giallorossi are now trying to flog David Pizarro to Zenit St Petersburg for €10 million to fund Behrami's deal.

Talk yesterday of interest from former club Lazio is understood to be wide of the mark.
