AS Roma will step up their pursuit of Liverpool fullback Glen Johnson this week. The England international comes off contract in June and admits the most likely option is this will be his last season at Anfield.

Il Messaggero says Roma chief Walter Sabatini will make contact with Johnson's camp this week for an answer about moving to Italy.

If Johnson, 30, approves, Roma will draw up a pre-contract offer for the defender to consider from January 1.

However, a bid and an immediate transfer next month hasn't been ruled out.
