Roma coach Spalletti: We're pumped up for Arsenal

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti is full of confidence going into tonight's Champions League second-leg clash with Arsenal.

Roma trail the Gunners 1-0 on aggregate and Spalletti says: "It's certainly a fundamental step in the season.

"We arrive at this game pumped up and I have faith in the lads because they have always given the response expected of them in the past. That gives us faith and serenity."

A number of key men are in doubt for Roma due to a long injury list at Trigoria.

"We will have to wait until tomorrow to know the injury situation in full," Spalletti said. "Totti's condition needs to be reviewed very closely tomorrow, not just for his sake but for the team's.

"I don't want to risk upsetting the balance of the side and I must also take into account that this game could go to extra-time.

"Football in our country certainly ensures that you play one game after another and the pressure doesn't help."

Spalletti didn't give any certainties regarding the system he will play against Arsenal.

"I have a plan in my head, but there is also a Plan B that can be adopted during the game," the Tuscan tactician explained. "The main thing is that to beat Arsenal we need to be careful of them pushing on the wing.

"Arsene Wenger is a really good Coach and he knows how to lead a team and instil the right mentality.

"In terms of age, we have a little more experience than them, but they also have lots of character and are very prepared."
