AS Roma coach Claudio Ranieri stands by his decision to walk away this summer.

Ranieri announced his plans before Sunday's impressive victory over Juventus.

He said, “I am just focusing on doing my work. I'm Roman, I know everything here, it is my home and I've travelled all over the world, but this is home.

“I always try to implement a feeling of mutual respect, we can joke and laugh around, but on the field we give our all."

Ranieri added: “When I was contacted by Roma, I was offered a role for after this experience, but I said no, I am still a Coach and I want to continue coaching. I happily take the insults and knocks, because I want to keep coaching.

“I think the club knows what it needs to do and is waiting to see where we are at the end of the season, quite rightly, before making any decisions."
