AS Roma coach Eusebio Di Francesco says Luca Pellegrini deserved his chance for victory over Empoli.

With Aleksandar Kolarov injured, 19-year-old full-back Pellegrini was given his first start for his hometown club.

“He had a good game and after a few misplaced early crosses reacted well against a difficult team," said Di Francesco.

"He has great capabilities and if he continues to work like this, then he can become important for Roma."

Pellegrini also stated: "The debut is a special moment for everyone. I'm happy because I know how hard I worked to reach this moment.

“Everyone was really helpful, because it's like a family here. I couldn't have asked for better preparation and I thank everyone for their support."
