Roma are chasing Manchester United fullback Matteo Darmian.

Corriere dello Sport says Roma sporting director Monchi sees Darmian as cover for Rick Karsdorp after his season was ended by a knee injury.

Darmian is still highly thought of in his homeland, as one of the only Italy players to emerge from their World Cup debacle with any credit.

The defender had looked likely to leave Old Trafford in the summer after being used sparing during Jose Mourinho's first season at the club.

The United full-back lost his place in the team to Antonio Valencia, and came under fire for an awful performance during the 1-0 defeat to Basel.
