Roma captain Pellegrini: This is unacceptable; our fans deserve better

Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini says their season start hasn't been good enough.

Roma were thumped 4-1 by Genoa last night, with the hosts controlling the 90 minutes.

Pellegrini later lamented: "They found the goal immediately, then we had an excellent reaction and they found the goal again. Beyond this, we absolutely need to start again with a victory on Sunday.

"It is unacceptable that Roma have these points after these matches and it's us inside Trigoria who have to find a way to get out of this moment.

"Today is something different, because they found the goal straight away and then they were all behind. At the start of the second half my feeling was that we would have found the goal again, then at 3-1 things got complicated. It's clear that we have to improve, even before the next match."

At the end of the match, the players went to the away section.

"We went there as a matter of respect. We know all the love they put into being close to us everywhere in the world. We will continue to fight and we will do it for them first and foremost."
