Manchester United have informed Roma of their asking price for Chris Smalling.
Roma sporting director Gianluca Petrachi recently declared his interest in making Smalling's loan move permanent.
United are willing to sell the 30-year-old, but he'll come at a price.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), the Serie A club would have pay a transfer fee of 'no less than €18m'.
The capital club would then have to pay Smalling's long-term contract, which rounds the total amount to €40m.
Any move for Smalling would depend on their qualification for the Champions League, which could provide them with an income boost for transfers.
