Roma angrily hit back at Totti after fiery farewell announcement

AS Roma have responded to Francesco Totti's fiery farewell media conference held on Monday.

Totti leveled several accusations at the board and president James Pallotta when announcing he would be leaving Roma after over 30 years as a player and director.

The Giallorosso released a statement this morning, declaring:

"We offered him the position of sports director after the departure of Monchi, we thought that this role was one of the most important positions and we were prepared to be patient with him and help him in the transition between being a great footballer and an excellent manager.

"On the repeated references to a possible return with a new owner, added to the information about interested parties gathered by him around the world, we hope that this does not suppose an inappropriate announcement of an attempt of acquisition of the club, a very delicate situation since AS Roma is listed on the stock exchange.

"The investor group has no intention of selling the club now or in the future."
