Jack Rodwell says he can fill the void left at Everton by Mikel Arteta's move to Arsenal.
Midfield matador Arteta's shock £10million deadline-day departure to Arsenal has left a gaping hole in the Toffees' engine room.
But Rodwell, back to his best after a string of injury problems, insists he is the man to fill the void.
He said: "He's a great player, he's a good lad as well.
"He'll be sorely missed but it's a good opportunity for him and we've got a lot of young players who can fill in.
"Am I ready to step up and fill his boots? Yeah, definitely. I'm ready now. I feel fit, I feel sharp and focused."
