Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes his side were good enough for a win in Tuesday night's Capital One Cup semi-final first leg with Chelsea.
The Reds drew 1-1 at Anfield courtesy of Raheem Sterling's sublime second-half goal which cancelled out Eden Hazard's 18th-minute penalty.
Liverpool forced Blues keeper Thibaut Courtois into a number of vital saves throughout the 90 minutes which suggests to Rodgers that perhaps they could have taken a narrow win into next week's return bout in London.
"I'm delighted with the performance, disappointed with the result," he told Sky Sports 1.
"I thought we deserved to win the game, we showed wonderful character. We went behind to their only shot on target but some of our play, taking the game to Chelsea, was very impressive.
"It was a wonderful performance and sets up the second leg perfectly. They're at home and will have to open up a wee bit more. My players were super."
