The Reds take on the French club in their opening Europa League group stage fixture and could leave the Belgian striker behind in England in a bid to freshen him up for the weekend according to The Express.

Liverpool desperately need a win in the Premier League when they take on Norwich City at Anfield on Sunday and want Benteke to be fully fit after battling some niggles in recent times.

Benteke, who joined from Aston Villa for £32.5million in the summer, scored with a stunning overhead kick in Saturday's 3-1 loss at Manchester United and Rodgers may rest him for the clash with Bordeaux so he can be at his best for the crucial league clash with the Canaries.
