Robson: Tottenham not too good to go down

Former Newcastle and England manager Sir Bobby Robson has warned Tottenham they're not too good to go down.

He told the Mail on Sunday: "They are in real trouble. On paper, they have the players to get out of it but you've got to get the results. Ramos's job is to restore enthusiasm, confidence and belief and find the winning system.

"It's no good saying 'Ahh well we're not in trouble, we won't go down', because they're third from bottom. And everybody else down there is fighting. If Tottenham don't fight then they might go down.

"The players have put Tottenham where they are. And now the players have got to put them where they want to be. So it's very much in the hands of the bloody players to change their attitude.

"It's a common expression; we're too good to go down. Oh really? You've got to prove that you're too good to go down, not just talk about it. You've got to show it on the pitch. They've got into so many winning positions and lost, because they haven't shown the fight and determination to scrap.

"They need that fear factor in them that says 'hang-on we've got to be careful here'. Their next matches against Wigan and West Ham are all winnable, if they get it all together.

"So in that sense, and with all respect to the other clubs, the coach has come at a good time. The next few games are integral to Tottenham's season. The next few weeks are crucial and they need to begin an unbeaten run of nine or ten games."
