Roberto Carlos: I should still be at Real Madrid

The Brazilian revealed Real president Ramon Calderon promised him a two-year contract last season, but when it came to negotiations, left the responsibility to sports director Pedja Mijatovic, who insisted on a one-year deal.

"The president left the responsibility to Mijatovic and there was no more discussion," said Roberto Carlos. "I wanted to sign for two years and he told me that it be for one-year and I'd get the second if I completed 30 games.

"Knowing how I am now playing for Fenerbahce, I know I could be still at Real and could have played for another two years there."

Roberto Carlos added: "The lifetime contracts are a good thing. Apart from Raul and (Iker) Casillas, they could have done the same in the past with Hugo Sanchez, Fernando Hierro and so on ... huge players who have made history with the club."
