John Arne Riise says AS Roma have no excuses for their Champions League humiliation to FC Basel.
Roma lost 3-1, suffering their first defeat of the season at the Stadio Olimpico.
Speaking to Mediaset after the game, Riise said: "We are playing badly and we have to work.
"Actually, in the first half we played more than badly, we were very bad."
When asked to explain how Roma can get out of their crisis, Riise replied: "By working. Only by working.
"We are not a team of demoralised players. For example, I am always happy to work and train.
"It's like I said before. First we have to train. It's the only way that we have to rise again, even if it's a difficult period."
