Ribery offers new encouragement to Man Utd, Chelsea

Franck Ribery has offered encouragement to Premiership clubs that he's ready to leave Bayern Munich.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are among English clubs chasing the France international winger.

Ribery, who would be a free agent in 17 months, said: "Our result in the Champions League will of course play a part in my decision. For me, footballing potential is the most important thing.

"Seeing how the team is playing, we've got every chance in the Champions League.

"Our squad isn't quite as good as Barcelona or Real but when everyone is on form, the 11 on the pitch are top class."

Roman Abramovich is keen to see Ribery at Stamford Bridge and will happily fund a big-money move, though there are plenty of suitors for the left winger.

Manchester United considered him after selling Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid last summer, but there are doubts whether they could still fund a move.
