Parma twice tried to sign Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden in 2019, it has been revealed.
Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed Foden was a target last season.
Parma coach Roberto D'Aversa had scouted the youngster when playing for England U21s in Cesena.
Foden scored a goal, but it was not enough for the Three Lions to avoid defeat against France.
Later in the year, Parma tried to sign Foden on loan twice that summer.
Their ex sporting director Daniele Faggiano called City manager Pep Guardiola about Foden, but was told to forget it.
After a few weeks, it was D'Aversa himself to call the Manchester City manager.
Guardiola once again rejected Parma's offer, explaining: “He is a young player, but he is very strong. David Silva will leave, and he'll be a starter this season."
