Paul Scholes supporters insist the Manchester United legend had no alternative but to quit Oldham Athletic after just 31 days in charge.
The Daily Mail reports owner Abdallah Lemsagam is said to have tried to influence team selection, while team buses did not turn up, players had to wash their own kit and the gas supply at Boundary Park was ripped out by bailiffs.
Scholes even joked at one Oldham press conference that he was going to make himself a coffee from the club's machine "unless it's been repossessed."
The Manchester United legend had inserted a 'no interference' clause into his contract but became concerned that information about training and selection was leaking to the owner.
Scholes was so irate that he reportedly called his squad together to warn the players that anyone found leaking news to Lemsagam would not play for him again.
Scholes is said to have made the decision to leave after discovering that Alex Iacovitti, signed on loan before he arrived, had been offered a permanent deal despite not playing a single game this season.
